The AFOS Foundation for Entrepreneurial Development Cooperation was established in 2003 by members of the Federation of Catholic Entrepreneurs (BKU). It emerged from the joint initiative “Africa Fund for Self-Employment” (AFOS) of the BKU, the Catholic relief organisation Misereor and Kolping International.
We base our work on Christian social teachings, whose core principles are respect for human dignity, the common good, solidarity and subsidiarity. These values are central to our projects and help us pursue our goal of supporting small and medium-sized enterprises on their self-determined path to success. Our focus is on empowering the disadvantaged, regardless of origin, ethnicity, religion or gender.
As an independent and non-profit foundation, we finance our activities through private donations and public grants, primarily from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). sequa gGmbH in Bonn has been a proven partner in the administration and management of most of our projects for many years.
